June Block Lotto Books -- Summer Reading

We LOVE our local library and all that it offers.  My son and I participate in many library events and fun things.  The June block for the Block Lotto is called Summer Reading.  Here's my first two blocks.  I hope to make more and plan to send these to two different winners if there are that many.

 

Fieldcrossing -- Royal Wedding Quilt Inspiration

I was surfing the pages of my reading list and came upon a quilting blogger from the UK that blogs at The Lilac Cat.  She called it the Royal Wedding quilt because she was watching the Royal Wedding on tv as she was working on the quilt.  The original pattern you can get for free is available at Cloud 9 Fabric site is called Fieldcrossing Quilt.
I was messing around with my Accuquilt dies because I'm lazy because I'm a productive cutter and used my Accuquilt GO! Value Die to cut six HST and one 2.5" square.  I put them together like this:

 

The pieces made my brain work to make sure I sewed the right side of the HST to the next piece.  This is a small block.  I'll have to decide what size pieces to put between them to make a cute baby quilt.  Another one of our speech therapists is pregnant.  It would make a cute gift.  I really like the on-point setting of the original quilt.  I don't like cutting odd sized pieces.  I LOVE to use my Accuquilt stuff with scraps!

WIP Wednesday 6.6.18

Summer vacation is in full force now.  Here's where I am on some projects:

I'm busy quilting this customer quilt using the Circle Lord Jesters Giant board.

 

I received some happy mail.  My prize for participating in the 2018 H2H is this cute little bright spring colored textured bundle from JoAnn Fabrics.  Sarah did a great job of getting the prizes out before her vacation bible school program began.

 

 

 

I finished the quilting on this customer's scrappy quilt.

 

 

I finished the last embroidery stitches on this crib quilt.

 

 

Every once in a while I get a few stitches on my pillow sham complete.

 

It's nice that I have a working bathroom in the house where my longarm is.  My husband installed a toilet.  He's using old slate from one of the barns that we demolished to make the square recessed pieces in the center of the tiles and then cuts them diagonally.  Hmmm... He'd make a good quilter...

 

My duck, Emma, is sitting on a nest of eggs.  I've never raised ducklings.

 

 

Don't freak out at the 68 projects.  I've had list in the upper 90's in the past.

June OMG -- Goal Setting Day

It's time to start setting some summer goals.  For June, 2018, I am going to set my goal to finish an embroidery crib quilt.  All of the embroidery is done.  I need to figure out which backing fabric to use, longarm quilt it, and bind it.  Here's a poor picture of it, but you get the idea.

Quilts in our Room

I recently moved a large piece of furniture out of our bedroom.  My husband said that we needed another quilt hanging in there.  I moved this quilt to a new wall.  This quilt pattern is called Homestead Harvest.  It is in the book Simple Appeal by Kim Diehl.  I just LOVE Kim's patterns! I finished it on September 1, 2017.

 

I added this quilt to where the large piece of furniture was.  It's helping to cover where the old wall paper came off and a few unhappy blemishes in the drywall.  I really like looking at it this way. :)  It is Welcome Home Sampler (pattern by Cheryl Wahl) Finished 9.15.17    62" x 69".

 

My plan is to sneak a treadmill or my elliptical machine here when the weather gets bad.  We'll see.  My new elliptical machine has not been used very much since I got it. :(

Customer Quilt on the Frame

Here's another beautiful scrap quilt on my quilt frame.  It was a customer's Scrap Therapy quilt.  Scrap Therapy is a little get together that our local quilt guild has.  One person comes up with a design/block pattern.  They all bring their scraps and sew.  Hopefully I'll have more pictures of this quilt this week.  I'd love to see it complete and back in the customer's hands. :)

Bear Embroidery Quilt Top Complete

 

In the photo below it looks like the bear has a creepy eye.  It's just folded funny.  I'm thinking I need to add a little color to the bear and the balloons.  I haven't decided what method to use yet for that.  I'm interested in the Crayola method, but haven't researched it much.   I LOVE the hearts and flowers that go around it.  I've lost my outside clothesline due to the demolition of the old garage.  I'll find another place in the sun.  BUT I realized that I have gained a tall-enough-now almost 11 year old official quilt holder.  :)
