WIP Wednesday 3.19.14

Busy, Busy, Busy!  I have a lot of LIFE going on right now.  I still manage to get a lot of quilting stuff done!  ...and to add to the March Madness, I started FOUR new projects!!!  Here's this week:

I finished my Star Light Star Bright QA (at Happy Quilting) table topper.  It's mostly linen fabrics.

I finished a Picadilly Circle block for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2014 (RSC14).  Love it!

I started a new project from SCRAPS.  These 2.5" wide pieces were ends of pieces of my Finding Nemo Scrappy Trip quilt that seems to never end.  I am sewing these pieces together like a jelly roll quilt.  I need to get the top finished quickly so that I can test out my new Ribbles template that is coming next week.  Can't wait to show you the quilting on that one.

Actually -- I finished this quilt top AND made a simple back.  I got a new Circlelord Ribbles template board yesterday because I need to expand my longarm options for customers and the guild.  I hope to quilt this thing TODAY -- WHOHOO!  This will be my Hands2Help 2014 Challenge Quilt for Happy Chemo.  Click on the link to sign up now -- prizes galore!!!  What a great cause!

I finished the longarming part of our LQG Spring Tea quilt.  Here's the quilt top:

I quilted it in swirls as requested.

I made one block for the Block Lotto this week.  The other three are cut and just need some sewin'.  I have a couple more ready to sew.

I also made this block, but didn't realize that the chain part was the wrong color.  (It was supposed to be light.)  Oh well... that's one for the dud pile.

I found a couple of quilt alongs that I am probably going to start in the upcoming month:

Cora's Quilts Super Mario Brothers QA + BOM Club  Isn't this quilt super fun?  It will be perfect for my son.

This one (Notions) starts TODAY!!! Notions -- Connecting Threads Staff Blog.
This is supposed to be a six fabric quilt.  I could raid my stash.  If I make it, it won't be scrappy.

I also plan to start a pattern by Beaquilter.  I am a pattern tester -- WHOHOO!

March Block Lotto

Here's the first block I am submitting for the March Block Lotto:

Get your sunglasses!  Here's the first block that I made for the March Block Lotto.  It is called Star Chain.  It is a 14" block.  Stay tuned, there are three more on the way.  I will be working on my other two or three blocks for March for the Block Lotto during the FNSI.  Check out what the others are doing here (Sugar Lane Quilts blog.)

Grab the Friday Night Sew In (FNSI) button

Note:  The block below is now for my "dud" quilt.  I didn't read the guidelines about the chain pieces being low volume.  That's okay.  It will go good in my dud quilt!

Jelly Roll Race Quilt from Scrappy Trip Scraps

Here's where I am with the Jelly Roll Race quilt made from my Scrappy Trip Scraps.  It's just lacking something.  It's not long enough for my son's bed, but it is wide enough.  I am going to add more to it.  Wait n see!  It's gonna be more fun for him.

LQG Tea Quilt - Quilting DONE!

I got rid of the raffle quilt for our local quilt guild's Spring Tea event today.  I completed the longarm quilting on it.  Others made the blocks and assembled the top.  I passed it on to the person that gets to put on the label and binding.  Whew.  Glad my part is done!

Here it is on my son's 6' trampoline.  I didn't want to handle it very much to chance it getting dirty.  I for sure didn't want to hang it on the clothesline with this weather and have it touch the ground!

I quilted it with swirls as requested by the quilt guild.  I ordered another Circle Lord template.  It should be coming next week.  I need to be a more-than-one-trick pony.

I'm happy to link up today's finish with Richard and Tanya Quilts for the Link-A-Finish FRIDAY.

Scrap Saturday -- Teal

I sorted and sorted and went through my strings.  I finally decided on 20 fabrics that I would use in my Picadilly Circle block for this month.  I love these colors.  I don't know why I don't have more of them in my scrap bin.

I'm linking up with Angela at SoScrapy: ScrapHappy blog.
Soscrppy

Since my Picadilly Circle is done I thought I would start a whole quilt top made with the strips found in my blue/green scrap bin.  Some are teal... some are blue... some are green -- and everything in between.  I added strips of orange because it's kinda across the color wheel from these colors.  These are mostly the 2.5" strips that were left over from some of my Scrappy Trip quilt that I have been working on for over a year.  I stitched them together end for end and am sewing them together like a jelly roll quilt.  I started out with roughly 1885 inches.  We'll see what size it is when finished.

Here's a picture of the mess that is sewn together.  Hopefully next week I'll have a full quilt top to show you.

The big blue bin seems to never end.  YEAH!

Star Light Star Bright Friday Finish

My finish this week is my Star Light Star Bright QA quilt at Happy Quilting.  This merry little quilt is now a table topper.  These fabrics were part of a scrap bundle that I won at Fabric Worm.  This table topper measures 27" x 27".

I really like the back.  It totally makes this little quilt reversible!

Check out Melissa's blog at Happy Quilting.  For the weekly linky party, go here.  See all the other quilts.

I'm happy to link up today's finish with Richard and Tanya Quilts for the Link-A-Finish FRIDAY.
