Making the Scrappy Christmas QA Blocks

I decided to make the blocks complete instead of in sections like Katrina of Sunshower Quilts suggested because I wanted to make sure some of my prints got evenly distributed.  Here's where I am with my Scrappy Christmas QA blocks:

 

 

I just had to share this somewhere...  My five and a half year old is starting to be very interested in using my camera.  Here's a picture he took today:

Block Lotto Split Star Blocks

 

All of the November Block Lotto Split Star blocks have made it to their new home.  Here they are on the bed in no particular order.  I just can't believe how so many quilters can get so many blocks the correct size!  Yes, there are rules that the blocks are supposed to be within the tolerances, but these blocks are awesome awesome awesomely close to the 9.5"!  That just goes to show what a great group of people we have in the Block Lotto!

I didn't open all of the packages until today.  It seems like almost every single time I opened a package that I said, "this one is my favorite."  I guess I'm just addicted to quilting.

 

I need to search my sewing area.  I know all of the blocks are here.  It's here somewhere...

 

Since the blocks are sooo close in size, sashing would not be necessary.  I'm not sure how I am going to lay these out just yet.  I think I like them in this position with the solid white block in the top left corner of each block.  I will rearrange the colors.  I need to research a few more on the internet.  Let me know if you see any amazing quilts made with these blocks!

Easy Street Step 2 Complete with the help of Accuquilt GO! Baby

Thanks to my Accuquilt GO! Baby, Step 2 of Bonnie Hunter's Easy Street is complete.  I was able to use the Value die (55018) and the Quarter Square 4" Finished Triangle die (55047) to cut all of my flying geese in a whip.  Then I trimmed each one to size.  Had I had to cut all of them with my rotorary cutter I would have probably had to pull out some of my hair.  Thumbs up on Step 2 being "easy" too.

 

I am always amazing how little blocks in a shoebox make a quilt.  I am still happy with my color choices.  I think it's a good idea for me to follow Bonnie Hunter's colorway suggestions when it comes to her mystery quilts.  Maybe this is the key for this project to not become just a WIP.

 

 

Here's my little sunshine at yesterday's holiday parade.  He always has so much fun.  What a beautiful day at about 56 Ohio degrees.  Bring on the parade candy, marching bands, and firetrucks!  I can't belive my little man is wearing a size 8 Carhardt coat already.

 

 

I need to make a note to myself about a Pinterest person of interest.  When I have more time I need to look at all of the boards that I am not following of LindaKay Pardee.  She has sooooo many cool quilting catagories.  This would a great thing to look at while I'm waiting room with WiFi!

 

Easy Street - Step 1 -- Complete

Yeah!  Step 1 of Easy Street is complete.  I like the way they look sitting there all the same in their little shoe box.  So far, I'm happy with my fabric choices.  LOL.

 

Now off to all of those flying geese!

I started step 2 of Bonnie Hunter's Easy Street.  Here's two flying geese.  They measure a small 2" x 3.5".  126 more to go...

 

Hmmm.  After seeing Bonnie's post today about Quiltmaker magazine.  I wonder if we are going to use these flying geese blocks to make ceiling fan blocks.   They could get paired up with 2"x2" blocks.  Just a thought!  We could make 32 celing fan blocks.  Hmmm.  We'll see.

Yes, there is Ronald McDonald fabric at the top of the back. I couldn't resist.

In the yellow strip are all of the "saved" half square triangles that were cut when making the blocks.

The large section is made from one of my favorites -- Picnic Ants!

More Four-Patch Frenzy

 

I finished all of my four-patch blocks for the Christmas quilt.  While I was in four-patch mode I decided to just go ahead and make the 192 needed for Easy Street. (Because I need another WIP!)

I am going with the dark grey for my constant.  I am also going to try to do
all of the background fabric the same.  It's white with light grey and apple plaid.

Can't wait to see how "easy" Easy Street is going to be (from Bonnie's point of view).  Orca Bay is still sitting in pieces in a box.
