Here's my first "bag".  I'm not really a purse person.  But this bag is perfect for me on "coupon day".  It's made from an 18 lb. birdseed bag.  It's lined, has a pocket, and has two loops inside where I will hook my keys and phone.  It's a sentimental bag because it's the last bag of birdseed that I bought for my mom to fill her bird feeder at the nursing home.  I haulled it in my truck for months so that I would always be able to fill her feeder.  I like the little handle that I used to jazz it up a bit.

That Phantastic Quilt - Part 1

Surprise, surprise.  I joined another quiltalong.  This one is from Susan Claire for Gourmet Quilter.  The 1st of the month each part of the mystery is posted.  See, I have a WHOLE month to do each part!  Here's what I did for part one.  Each block has a different fabric in it.  I think they look cute.

Playing with Hexagons

Today I was playing around with actually sewing hexagons for the first time.  Don't mind the colors in this sample, althoug it does remind me of an Easter egg... it was the first thing I pulled from my scrap bin.  I think they turned out okay for my first try.  They are pretty tiny.  This strip measures 2.5" wide by almost 9" long.  ...just experimenting.  The ones on the ends look lopsided because they did not get sewn to anything.  I don't think I need a piece this long; they would probably be cut.

Happy Easter!

UFO Challenge for April -- Crumb Quilt

The UFO Challenge for April will certainly be a challenge for me.  This month the lucky number is TEN.  That means I need to work on 10) Crumb Along with Jo's Country Junction (still making crumbs).
Here's where we stand today:
Looking at this "mess" I can see why this project was abandoned and became a UFO.  It's just too much.  24 of the blocks are mine.  30 blocks came from a quilty bloggy friend, Kate.  I think what I may do is just use the 30 of Kate's blocks, sash them, and make a baby quilt for charity.  I'll need something nice and bright to make this more baby like.  Hmmm...

Thanks, Judy at Patchwork Times is having a UFO challege for 2012.    http://www.patchworktimes.com/2012-ufo-challenge/
