I actually baste the sides down through the paper, Yes! I actually stick the needle right through the paper. Make sure you make the knot on the top. People always ask how do you get the basting out then which is a really really stupid question. When I'm ready to remove the basting stitches, I simply snip the stitches and pull the thread out! This is fun to do while watching a movie on TV. I've reused the papers until they really do fall apart with no problems. Hope this helps you.Gretchen Weaverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11163051875559827310noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4780839684849928705.post-29571659627990549792018-11-18T12:05:34.523-08:002018-11-18T12:05:34.523-08:00I too think your hexies could play more nicely if ...I too think your hexies could play more nicely if you stitch in blocks and then stitch each block to the main piece. And then you can remove the cardboard from all but the outside hexies. Good luck!Andree G. Maybe five by five? At some point, these types of project do become unwieldy. You might check out Bonnie Hunter's blog. Have you tried attaching the fabric to the cardboard with a glue stick? That's what I do. Once, I have stitched a couple of hexis away from the old ones, I take the cardboards out and reuse them so it's not hard to get them out and the glue will wash off.stitchingirlblog.wordpress.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01667875464594937456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4780839684849928705.post-42702524416474812342018-11-18T06:17:52.310-08:002018-11-18T06:17:52.310-08:00I don't know anything really about hexie sewin...I don't know anything really about hexie sewing but maybe one of the other slow stitchers will know how to reduce that problem?
